Day 297

It has been a while since I have posted an update to this. I have had a lot going on in my life since my last post including moving to Richmond, starting a new full-time job, getting engaged. My weight loss has decreased significantly over the last 3 months. This is to be expected as I am still within the first year of my surgery. I stepped on the scales this morning as I usually do to find that I have dropped down to 245.8 pounds. This means that I have now lost 110 pounds since my surgery. Until next time.

Day 182

Today is day 182 of my Obese Never Again weight loss journey.  I have lost 105 pounds.  I stepped on the scales today and saw that I weighed 249.8 lbs.  The last 5 days I have had to deal with a bout of Hand, Foot, & Mouth disease.  I got it bad on my hands and feet with a few spots on my face.  No doubt some of my weight over the last 5 days were lost due to my illness.  Ill take it..  My girlfriend Rebecca continues to be proud of my progress as I am sure everyone of my loved ones around me is.  I do continue to exercise and maintain my protein intake.

I will continue to work toward my goal of 200 Pounds...Which means by now I only have 49.8 Pounds to lose :D....  Until Next time

Day 163

Today is a milestone day for sure.  In less than 6 months since I had the Gastric Vertical Sleeve surgery, I have lost 100 Pounds.  Here is what I have also lost:

1) 10-12 Sizes in my waist
2) 4 Shirt Sizes going from a 4XLT-5XL to XLT
3) Underwear size from a 52-54 to a 40-42
4) My increased heart rate
5) My risk of diabetes

Here is what I have gained

1) More self-esteem
2) More confidence
3) More stamina
4) Higher Testosterone levels
5) A new girlfriend
6) A better outlook on life

I have gone from 355 to 255 in under 6 months...  I aim to lose at least 55 more pounds.  I KNOW I will do it.  It may take me the rest of this year to do so, but I will do it.

Day 145

Today I stepped on the scales as I always do every morning post surgery.  It showed that I weighed 259.2 Pounds.  This means that I now have lost 96 pounds.  I continue to be amazed at my progress.  I am now back to the weight I was in 1999 when I graduated High School.  I credit this weight loss to helping me not sustain further injury last night when I fell on wet pavement and busted my elbow open.  The laws of Physics indicate that had I had that extra 96 pounds on when I fell, I would have likely sustained greater injury to myself.  More Weight = More Inertia = greater impact with the ground.  My next post will be when I reach the milestone of losing 100 Pounds which might be within the next 7-10 days.

Day 137

Today is day the last day of April AND day 137 since I had my Gastric Vertical Sleeve surgery.  I now weigh 265.6 pounds which brings me to a total loss of 90 pounds.. That's right, 90 pounds.  I feel better than I have this millennium. Bad joke I know but I had to use it.  I had to buy a new belt the other day because the old one I had simply wouldn't tighten around my waist anymore.  I have gone from a 54 waist to a 42 waist in pant sizes.  I honestly believe Ill be able to go down to a 40 size in a couple of weeks.  I have been trying to curtail my dependency on the GNC lean shakes as I work on eating more foods during the day that have protein in it but on most days I still drink 2 a day.  I still drink at least one and that is the first thing I consume during the day.  I still drink a lot of water.   I should definitely reach the 100 pound loss mark in May.  I am only five more pounds away from where I approximately weighed when I graduated high school in 1999.  By the time I finish losing weight.  I should be around the weight I was mid way through my Junior year in 1997 going into 1998 around 200 pounds.

Day 130

Today I woke up to weigh as usual and found out that I weighed 270.0 lbs.  This means since December 15th, I have lost a total of 85 pounds.  I have gone down 12 sizes in the waist.  I went from a 54 to a 42.  I continue to exercise every week.  I can now walk 4-5 miles at a time without tiring out.  I get bored with walking before I ever tire out.  I have noticed that more and more people that knew me before my surgery have been throwing out complements and congratulations on my progress.  It is undeniable that I look better, feel better, and feel more sociable now than at any point in the last 16 years of my life.  My goal is to get between 200-210 pounds... So I have about 60-70 more pounds to lose.  However it is entirely possible that I could lose to 190 lbs.  That would really be about as low as I would want to weigh for my height.

Day 117

Today I write for the fact that I have reached a weight loss of 80 pounds.  This continues to be an amazing transformation for me since I am only 4 months post surgery!  It would seem by now that I would cease to be amazed at the weight that I am losing but some how I do not think I will until I reach my target weight.  For my height of 6 ft 4 inches, I should be right around 200 pounds.  This would mean I have 75 more pounds to lose.  Admittedly its getting harder to resist eating certain foods that I know very well I should stay away from like dessert cakes and cookies.  However, I just eat a wheat thin type cracker or drink water instead when I get those urges.  Until next time!

Day 110

Today is day 110 post surgery.  I have officially lost 75 pounds.  This is roughly half of my target weight loss.  I continue to drink 2 GNC leanshakes a day as part of my daily diet to reach a daily intake of 70-100 grams of protein.  I have continued to stay away from all sodas, desserts, alcohol, and other high calorie foods.  I am still exercising to the tune of at least 6-8 miles a week.  With me working a part time job now for the last month, it has been a bit harder to get in my exercise.  I continue to feel better about my body and my overall health.  The size of clothes that I buy continue to shrink.  I project by at least June I will be back down to my High School graduation weight of 260 pounds.  My goal is to be around 200.  Until next time!

Day 92

I am now 3 months post surgery.  I am no longer on any food restrictions.  However I still refrain from eating any deserts, drinking sodas.  I eat rice and pasta sparingly.  I still cannot drink any alcohol until at least June 15th.  Today I weighed in at 285.2 lbs.  This means I have lost 70 pounds now.  I continue to feel healthier by the day.  I get a little more confident in my overall physical appearance by the day.  Until next time.

Day 83

I have reached the weight of 290 pounds.  This is a 65 Pound drop from December 15th when I weighed 355 pounds.  I have dropped 10 pant sizes.  I have also gone from wearing 5XL-4XLT shirts to wearing 2XLT.  I am walking about 12 miles every week.  I am continuing to drink 2 GNC leanshakes per day along with at least 64 fl oz of water.  It is really starting to hit me when I look in the mirror just how much healthier I look especially when I look at myself from the side and no longer see that huge gut of mine sticking out.  I have around 70-90 more pounds to lose before reaching my target weight for my height.  It may take me the rest of this year and some of the next to get there but ITS GONNA HAPPEN.  When that does, Im going to look damn sexy.

Day 71

Well today is Day 71 of my Obese Never Again journey and as I stepped on the scales today as I always do after waking up, I found out that I weigh 295.0 pounds.  This means that I have officially lost 60 pounds since December 15th.  My goal is to lose as much as 160 pounds.  This means I have 100 pounds to lose to meet that goal.  However it would not hurt my feelings any if I only lost 60-80 more pounds.  I'm exercising more every week.  I still maintain my daily intake of 70-100 grams of protein through one meal a day and 2 GNC Lean shakes along with no less than 64 fl oz of water a day.  After March 15th, Ill be able to partake in meats like steak and pork chop once again.  Even with my reduced size of pants to 48, I find that I have to tighten my belt a little more just to keep my pants on me.  I feel I will have to buy new pants size 46 very soon.  Until next time!

Day 60

Well today is day 60 post surgery and today I have hit a milestone.  I have lost 55 pounds.  This is a milestone for me because I weighed 355 going into surgery and now I weigh 300 pounds.  I continue to see improvement in my overall stamina and sleep.  Depending on brand name, I have lost around 6-8 pants sizes.  I continue my routine of eating one meal a day, drinking 2 GNC lean shakes, drinking water and having the occasional low calorie snack.  These last 5 pounds have not been easy to lose at all.  I am hoping that this was just a small plateau that I had to hurdle over before resuming a slow but steady weight loss.  Until next time.

Day 47

I have lost 50 pounds.. On December 15th, I weighed 355 pounds.  Today I weigh 305 pounds.  I continue to exercise daily and continue to take my recommended vitamins and keep up with my protein intake.  I still drink two GNC lean shakes a day.  On December 15th, I wore a waist size of 54 pants.  I now wear a slightly loose 50 and a comfortable 48.  In shirts, depending on brand, I was wearing anything from a 4XLT to a 5XL.  Now I am wearing a 3XLT fairly loosely and last night I bought a 2XLT fleece hoodie.  It feels so amazing to shed these pounds.  I have noticed that sometimes my weight will go up slightly by about 0.4-0.8 lbs in a 24 hour period but then I usually see a 1.0 to a 1.6 pound loss in the next 24-48 hours.  Well, until next time folks!

Day 36

Today is the first day of Stage 6 of my diet otherwise known as regular diet.  My only remaining restrictions on food is heavy meats like steak and pork chop.  I also started back at EKU for my final semester yesterday and it was a bit rewarding.  People that remember me from last semester prior to my surgery noticed a difference.  I even spoke to one person who has a friend he was concerned about who is struggling with obesity.  This whole experience has empowered me to encourage others to seek the help they need if they truly wish to live a healthier longer life.  Other than my Vitamin D levels being a little low, my one month appointment blood panel was fine.  Now that I am back in school and have access to the nice gym on campus, I only expect to continue to dropping the weight in regular fashion.  I warned all my instructors that I am not sick or have some sort of illness but to expect me to continue to look different as the semester wears on.  I have officially dropped 45 pounds as my weight now stands at an even 310 pounds.  Until next time friends.

Day 28

Well Eating foods like canned tuna has been a refreshing change from just soft non meat foods.. Only two more days before I can eat meats like chicken and ground up hamburger.. Today is a milestone for me since I have officially lost 40 pounds or 25% of the total weight I intend to lose. On the 14th  I will be going to Dr. Smith's office in Georgetown for my one month appointment check up and labs.  I suspect he will be very pleased with my weight loss progress.   Id like to thank all that care to view this blog and hope that you will continue to do so in the future.  My official weight as of this morning comes to 314.5 which is a total loss of 40.5 lbs.  Until next time!

Day 20

Well today has been like most days as of late.. I still wake up and eat some scrambled eggs and soft boiled potatoes.  Then I have my GNC Lean Shake.  I take my vitamins, go to Ravenna's park and go walking for around 45 minutes to an hour straight..  Drinking water throughout the whole day.  I then eat something like applesauce or even some cottage cheese, Drink another Lean Shake.  Then go to bed.  My latest weight comes in at 321.8 which brings my total weight loss to 33.2 lbs.  See you next time!

Day 18

Well this is going to be short.. Missed a few days of posting...Nothing exciting really to report..  Weight as of late Day 17 was 323.6 lbs which brings my total weight loss to 31.4 pounds.  Until Next time
